Concepcion , Chile
The City

Concepcion is the capital city of the Bio-Bio Region and is located in the central part of Chile, near the Pacific Ocean, some 500 kilometers to the south of Santiago.  The city has a lively atmosphere owing to its large student population.  The layout of the city is geared for pedestrians in large plazas and walking shopping areas.  This port city holds a huge place in Chile’s industry.  The fertile farm lands of the area supply fruits, wines, and grains that get sent through Concepción to be shipped all over the world.
Chile is an intriguing country, with such a long and narrow land area, beaches, coastline, the Andes mountains, farmland and wineries are almost literally smashed into the same vicinity.  Students can try any number of outdoor activities such as surfing, hiking, trekking, biking, kayaking, climbing, horseback riding (Chile has its own unique and traditional cowboy culture), skiing in the Andes mountains and tango dancing in the cities.  Concepcion, with its university stronghold, is a great place to explore the mouth-watering cuisine and food culture of Chile.
