Semester 1: mid September to early February
Semester 2: mid February to late June
UAB’s main campus is located in Bellaterra, a twenty-five minute train ride away from Barcelona’s city center. Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, a unique region of Spain with its own language and culture. Set beside both the Mediterranean Sea and the Montseratt Mountain Range, the city rivals any in Europe for natural beauty. A boardwalk lines the four kilometers of beach through the city, and there are numerous stops at cafes and tapas restaurants to take it all in.
Perhaps one of the most intriguing aspects of Barcelona is the region’s beloved artist and architect, Antoni Gaudi. His unfinished masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia enchants and inspires any visitor. Or spend the day engrossed in his public sculpture park, Park Guell. Other attractions in the city include shopping and watching street performers on La Rambla, exploring the winding alleys of the Gothic Quarter, and picking up fresh produce at La Boqueria. Additionally, Barcelona is naturally connected to Europe’s high speed train system that can escort you to nearby French, Spanish, or Portuguese cities. Skiers can take days trips to the nearby Pyrenees mountains.
