Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Australia  was established in 1889 and has since evolved into a multi-campus university with an international reputation for excellence.  With three campuses, CSU offers a diverse array of courses, all within the vast state of New South Wales.

Academics
CSU has several campuses and not all courses are available at all campuses, so students must select a campus that has courses in their field.  CSU offers classes in Health Sciences, Animal Science, Agriculture, Education, Business, Communication, Environmental Science, Exercise Science, Humanities, IT, Psychology, and many more.  Subjects can be found at: www.csu.edu.au/handbook/handbook11/subjects/

Housing & Meals
CSU guarantees on-campus accommodation at some of the campuses and off-campus housing at others.  Students living on-campus can purchase a meal plan or choose to prepare their own meals in shared kitchens.

Cost Information
Exchange students pay their regular tuition to UM, and their room and board in Australia.  Study Abroad students pay CSU’s Study Abroad tuition rate and room and board in Australia.  Per semester, on-campus housing ranges from AUD3740 to AUD11550 per semester.  Students must also pay AUD$185 per semester for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).  Students should also budget US$370 for a student visa to Australia.   Financial aid can be applied towards living and travel expenses while on exchange.

Credit Transfer
Students register for classes upon arrival at CSU;  space will be saved in the courses UM students request.  Students should enroll in four 8-credit courses at CSU (8 CSU credits = 4 UM credits).

The City

New South Wales is Australia’s most populated state.  Below are descriptions of some of CSU’s campuses’ locations.
Albury-Wodonga
Located on the Murray River and straddling the New South Wales-Victoria border is this major regional center.  Theses cities serve as the perfect base for trips to nearby snowfields and highlands, and world-class vineyards.  With a combined population of 95,000, the Albury-Wodonga has all the cultural features of a much larger city.
Bathurst
Australia’s oldest inland settlement, It is a cosmopolitan city with a vibrant arts community and a variety of restaurants and cafes.  However, it retains its closeness to nature: beautiful bushwalks, swimming holes, and farmland surround the city.
Wagga Wagga
Located midway between Sydney and Melbourne, this is Australia’s oldest inland city.  The city sits on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, has a proud sporting history, and a growing cultural and artistic community.  It boasts a dynamic music & theatrical scene & hosts a variety of events such as music festivals and sporting championships.
