With its charming yellow-brick buildings, built in traditional 20th Century Danish style, its green oak trees and lake, Aarhus University in Aarhus, Denmark is as scenic as it is prestigious. Founded in 1928, Aarhus University currently enrolls 18,000 students, making it the largest university in the country, outside of Copenhagen.

Danish is the primary language of instruction at Aarhus, however many departments offer courses in English. The university is divided into five faculties: Humanities, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Theology, and Science. Housing & Meals
Students may stay in residence halls, apartments, or rent private rooms in Aarhus. The residence halls are located in the suburbs of the city and connect to the campus by bus. Most rooms have private bathrooms, and share a kitchen with 10 other rooms. Students are encouraged to apply early for residence halls.
Exchange students pay their regular tuition to UM, and their room and board in Denmark. The cost of living in Denmark is relatively higher than in other European countries. Students should expect to pay between 1,900-3,200 DKK per month for accommodation, 1,700-2,400 DKK for food, and at least 1,000 DKK per semester for books. A student visa for Denmark costs US$90. Financial aid can be applied towards living and travel expenses while on exchange.
Students will register for their classes upon arrival at Aarhus University. Aarhus uses the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Students should enroll in 30 ECTS credits per semester which is equivalent to 15 UM credits. The minimum full-time load at Aarhus is 24 ECTS.
