Program Description:

Ajou University

Founded in 1973, Ajou University (AU) has been rated one of the top ten institutions of higher education in South Korea.  AU is located in Suwon, about 20 miles south of Seoul. Exchange students have various study options including intensive Korean language study and a summer school option that incorporates studies, multicultural workshops, trips, and social activities.  The school has over 14,000 students, over 700 of which are international students.

Academics
AU offers classes in English in  a wide array of Engineering course, Computer Science, Humanities, Business Administration, Korean Studies, International Studies, Natural Sciences, and Intensive Korean.  Course information can be found at:  www.ajou.ac.kr/

Housing & Meals
Students can live in double or quad occupancy dormitory rooms on campus.  AU dining services provides food at a very low cost, or alternatively, students may cook for themselves in kitchens located on every floor of the dorm buildings.  Cafés also dot the campus.   
Cost Information
Students pay UM their regular tuition costs and pay AU their room and board costs.  Double occupancy dorm rooms cost about US$800/semester and quad occupancy dorms cost about US$525/semester.  Meals cost about US$1000 Student visas to study in Korea cost US$45 for US citizens.  UM financial aid can apply to tuition, living, and travel expenses while on this program. 
    
Credit Transfer
Students register for classes upon arrival at AU.  Three hours of class work per week are equivalent to 3 UM credits.  Students on exchange must be full-time and must transfer back a minimum of 12 UM credits per semester.
